The first Disability and Inclusion Strategy for County Wicklow has been launched on 20th October in Arklow.
The strategy is the first of its kind in the whole of Ireland and was developed by Wicklow County Council’s Disability and Inclusion Strategy Committee (DISC), which was set up to bring different sectors of the community together to work collaboratively on making Wicklow more accessible for people with disabilities.
The strategy was developed with the active input of disabled people from across the county – both from wide consultation and the active participation of disabled people as members of DISC – and has very specific measurable actions with timelines to ensure that it will not just sit on a shelf.
