Wicklow Local Sports Partnership

Information on accessible and inclusive sports and fitness programmes and events across Co. Offer free CARA Disability Inclusion workshops and training for sports and fitness clubs.

 

CARA Sport Inclusion Ireland 

National organisation that works to increase sport and physical activity opportunities for people with disabilities.  Website has information and fitness resources, templates and fact sheets to help fitness facilities and clubs improve their accessibility for people with disabilities.

In November 2022 they launched this Xcessible Club Toolkit to support clubs to create a fully inclusive club for people with disabilities. .

Provide disability inclusion workshops for the sport, fitness, adventure and education sectors – available free in Co. Wicklow via the Wicklow Local Sports Partnership (see link above).

Irish Wheelchair Association

Provide opportunities for children and adults with a physical disability to participate in sports such as Wheelchair Rugby, Wheelchair Basketball, Para Athletics, Para Powerlifting, Para Swimming, Para Archery, Para Table Tennis and Boccia.

 

Lakers Social & Recreational Club

Sports, social and recreational club for children and adults with an intellectual disability.

 

National Disabled Angling Facility Aughrim 

Specially constructed pathways enable anglers with a physical disability to access the lakeside. 

 

Riding for the Disabled Association

Provides the opportunity for individuals with physical or intellectual disabilities to horse ride or carriage drive.

 

Special Olympics

Special Olympics clubs in North Wicklow include Festina Lente and Bray Lakers.
